ACE Consulting Engineers recently completed a successful HVAC design project for RPM Hire, a leading provider of traffic management equipment in Australia. This project focused on the garage exhaust and fresh air intake system design for RPM Hire’s Thomastown facility in Victoria—delivering a safe, compliant, and efficient mechanical ventilation solution that meets both operational needs and the National Construction Code (NCC 2022).
Project Overview:
Located in the industrial hub of Thomastown, RPM Hire’s facility required a tailored ventilation solution to service its equipment garage. The space frequently houses idling vehicles and heavy machinery, necessitating an advanced mechanical ventilation system to remove exhaust fumes and maintain healthy indoor air quality for workers.
Our Engineering Solution:
ACE Consulting Engineers provided a full HVAC design and documentation package that included:
✅ Garage Exhaust System Design: High-capacity extraction fans and ductwork designed to effectively remove vehicle emissions, including carbon monoxide and nitrogen dioxide, to ensure compliance with AS 1668.2 standards.
✅ Fresh Air Intake System: Strategically placed intake vents and air movement systems were incorporated to ensure adequate air replenishment and circulation throughout the space.
✅ System Integration: The design considered energy efficiency and automation, with sensors and timers for smart fan control based on occupancy and pollution levels.
✅ NCC 2022 Compliance: The design was engineered to meet all performance requirements under NCC 2022, including fire safety, airflow rates, and system redundancy.
